spot-on-disco. das hätte schon auch schief gehen können, aber die songs sind einfach seeehr catchy. das somervilles stimme dazu passt steht ja eh ausser frage. toll die background-chöre, die arrangements. ganz geiles album. gebe also konkret 5-6.

Ich bin vom neuen Album von Jimmy Somerville sehr enttäuscht.

Jimmy Somerville begleitet mich schon mein ganzes Leben, es fing mit Bronski Beat und der für jeden schwulen Mann wichitgen Song "Smalltown Boy" an, ging über die tanzlastigen Songs von den Communards weiter in die 90er Jahre mit seinen Solo-Songs. Auch hier blieb ich Jimmy Somerville treu und freute mich auf jede Platte, ob auf "Dare to love", auf "Manage the damage" auf das kontroverse "Home again" oder gar auf verklärte "Suddenly last summer". Immer war ich positiv überrascht. Bei diesem Album bin ich enttäuscht von der Einfallslosigkeit, mit der hier ein Sound reproduziert wird, den es in den 70ern so gar nicht gab. Den Mainstream wird es freuen. Ich halte das Album für Jimmy Somervilles musikalische Bankrotterklärung.
