*** It feels like there's a nice ballad hidden away here somewhere, but what this really feels like is when radio takes a nice ballad and tries to poppify or danceify it to make it more radio-friendly and instead make it crap by speeding it up and putting a shitty beat over it. It was all too prevalent in the late '90s and this takes me back to that for some reason. It's not horrible and at least it's differentish to his other songs, but it's still not good. Please go away.
*** Definitely more organic for Timomatic, not overloaded with synths.
Once again he seems to take cues from Guy Sebastian though. "Battle Scars" was released shortly before this and features all manner of muddled up pronouns. Perhaps you could take it to mean that he's talking to another person during the verses, but then rushing over to the girl in question for the chorus, exclaiming just how damn incredible she is!
Only problem is that I don't buy that in the narrative. I can't imagine there being other people in the vicinity as that would just kill the romance in the setting. And let's be honest, if there were other people around, they'd probably all be scrummaging to get a hold of Timomatic's rule book that he just threw away. It makes me think that the rule book was never necessary in the first place, but a decoy to get everyone away so he can spend time with his new found lady who can appreciate him making weird sounds at her.
But that doesn't explain the 3rd person speaking so I may be wrong. Otherwise there's just SO MUCH PASSION! I CAN'T TAKE IT! Last edited: 19.09.2013 15:43
***** This is for sure Timomatic's best song thus far. "Set It Off" and "If Looks Could Kill" were catchy and "Can You Feel It" was better than those two songs, but "Incredible" is at a whole new level. I hope this song does well on the charts and I hope Timomatic makes more music like this in the future.
** His voice doesn't really suit this style and the execution therefore isn't as great as it had the potential to. Not bad but Can You Feel It is still my favourite from him. His worst from him by quite a long way. Last edited: 29.12.2012 14:51
*** I've never been very fond of this song; while I appreciate the change in style from the first three singles (as my original review said) I've never found this particularly interesting and as with "If Looks Could Kill" I got very sick of this from radio play.
I also don't think the production fits this well; in my opinion it should have either been more raw, matching the stripped down sentiment as opposed to his club tracks, or should have been given some more energy as it's rather dull like this. Maybe it actually is organic and orchestral and I need to get my hearing checked, but I think for once I'm going to go against Timomatic's word despite his obvious knowledgeability.
Also, one thing of note about this track is that he describes this girl as "baby you're incredible" many times, and to me something about it doesn't feel right. I think it feels to me that the "baby you're incredible"s either should have been something more natural like, say, "baby I'm in love with you", or not all the same thing - i.e. listing different adjectives/phrases each time - but they decided to change all those to "baby you're incredible" as it's a more distinct lyric to your everday love song, and repetition helps with memorability. My issue with the "baby you're incredible"s is that "incredible" just doesn't seem like a natural choice of word to repeat so many times in a song, and while I'm not usually very concerned with genuinity, I think with love songs it's important that they sound real and heartfelt and believable, not a bit forced like this one does.
